Zimmerman close to being delt?

Over half the teams in the CPL inquired about a possible trade when found out that the Hero's were looking to move 3B Ryan Zimmerman. Many good offer where made and many deals where talked about.

The leading offer from the start was Mauling Tiger's, an offer of Arod and 2x 1st rd'ers. But its seems Tiger is going back and forth now on it. This has the door for a few new offers to spring up. Late word is a deal from a team not in the running to start with has made a strong offer. Stay tune to see what goes down.

Week 8 Hero of the Week

For the 4th time this season Jay Bruce has been named Hero of the week. Bruce had a monster week that help propel The Hero's over the Goats.

Bruce's line went 12h (1), 6r (1), 4HR (1), 13RBI (1), 3BB (1T),.353avg (1), 1.141OPS (1). So after looking at the line easy to name him Hero of the week, leading the team in 7 of the 8 offence cat.

Bruce is also the NL leader in Home Runs now with 15 on the season.

Week 8 Little Hero of the Week

Marc Krauss was named little hero of the week.

Why He was named: .407/.484/.852 (11-for-27), 3 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBIs, 5 R, 3 BB, 7 SO, 1-for-1 SB
The Scoop: Coming into last Friday, Krauss was hitting .219/.338/.391 with three home runs through 35 games. Scouts have wondered whether his lack of bat speed will eventually catch up to him. Yet Krauss found his stroke this week, hitting three home runs in four days and raising his season line to a much more respectable .252/.363/.471. Krauss still has his question marks as a corner outfielder with limited defensive ability and concerns about his bat, but weeks like this past one are encouraging.

Hall is heating up

Bill Hall went 4-for-4 with a run scored in Houston’s 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Monday evening.
The four-hit night was Hall’s first of the season, and upped his .221 average to .244. Through 135 at-bats, he has just two home runs, making him a shaky start in shallower NL-only leagues. The power should come, however.

Newest Hero

Padres purchased the contract of OF Blake Tekotte from Double-A San Antonio.
Tekotte, a third-round pick back in 2008, was hitting .291/.310/.486 with six homers and 14 steals over his first 39 games with Double-A San Antonio. The 23-year-old is left-handed, which is a nice change of pace to Chris Denorfia, Ryan Ludwick, Cameron Maybin, who all bat from the right side of the plate. It's not clear how much he'll play, but his speed makes him worth a flier in NL-only formats.

Jay Bruce off to a good start

Jay Bruce was a lone bright spot for the Reds in their blowout loss to the Phillies on Monday, going 3-for-4 with a three-run homer.
He tagged Cole Hamels for a three-run shot in the fourth inning, his second bomb in as many days, eighth of the month and 12th of the season. After a very slow start, Bruce is now playing like one of the best right fielders in all of baseball.

Week 7 Hero of the Week

For the 3rd time this season Jay Bruce was named Hero of the week! He has been swinging a hot bat as of late. In a close lost (7-9) to Rem Bruce's line was 10h(1) .455avg(1) 5R(T1) 4RBI(1) 1.455OPS(1)

Week 7 Little Hero of the Week

SP James Paxton was named Little Hero of the week. Mariners 2010 fouth-round pick LHP James Paxton took a meandering path to the affiliated minors. The NCAA's archaic agent rules left him unable to pitch for Kentucky following his selection in the 2009 draft, so he instead took a detour into independent ball and then didn't sign with Seattle until this spring. Paxton, 22, is trying to make up for lost time with low Class A Clinton. This week he went logged 17 strikeouts and seven walks while allowing nine hits and two runs allowed in 11 1/3 innings

Week 6 Hero of the Week

SP Trevor Cahill has been named Hero of the week. Cahill is the 2nd pitcher to recieve the award this season, teammate Brett Anderson was the other.

Cahill had ok week as far as he goes but it was goo enough to capture the Hero of the week. His line went 14inn 1.93era (3ER) 1-1 record with 8k's.

HELIUM WATCH

If left fielder Brandon Jacobs had turned down the Red Sox out of high school, he'd be celebrating Auburn's national championship in football. Instead Jacobs signed with the Red Sox for $750,000 as a 2009 10th-round pick after he had committed to be a running back for Tommy Tuberville. As you would expect for a Division I football recruit, the 20-year-old Jacobs is a premium athlete, but he's not a football player just learning to play baseball. He has a smooth swing, and his improving approach has helped him hit .370/.434/.590 with low Class A Greenville, which means he's very rarely being fooled. The biggest adjustment for Jacobs is improving his throwing arm—a common problem for football/baseball players.

Week 6 Little Hero of the Week

OF Mike Trout was named Little Hero of the week.

Why He's Here: .357/.486/.750 (10-for-28), 2 HR, 3 2B, 1 3B, 6 RBIs, 7 R, 6 BB, 3 SO, 2-for-3 SB
The Scoop: Trout smacked home runs in consecutive games at Springfield on Sunday and Monday and followed up with a pair of doubles on Tuesday. With six bombs on the season he's more than half way to his career high of 10, which he set last year the Class A level. Trout's walk rate has held steady this season (11.4 percent), but he's striking out a bit more (19 percent of at-bats) as he's turned on the jets with a .273 isolated power figure that blows away anything he's done previously. Maybe it's a conscious effort by Trout to add home runs to the mix—or maybe it's the natural result of a top prospect learning to turn on pitches he can deposit in the seats while also swinging and missing more frequently against Double-A pitching.

Carlos Perez Report

Physicality: Perez is tall and very skinny. Being just 19 years old he has a lot of growing and filling out to do which is very exciting as a Braves fan.

Delivery: Perez has a really easy and smooth delivery. He doesn't look like he is trying to throw that hard - at least he didn't for most of the game. He was just going nice and easy. He falls way back creating good deception on his pitches and has a full body follow through that doesn't appear to much stress on his arm. I'm not a master of pitching mechanics and in my opinion any pitcher can get hurt any time, but for what its worth I like Perez'z delivery a lot. In fact it was so smooth that I thought he was really just soft tossing the ball most of the game because the stadium gun was reading 82 on almost every fastball. I finally cross checked with a scout gun and realized the stadium gun was off by about 7 MPH.

Pitches:

•Fastball - coupled with his delivery his fastball was a plus pitch. Once I figured out the stadium gun was off I knew he wast throwing 89-90 most of the game and he touched 92 a couple of times. He could reach back to get a little more when he needed it but most of the time he sat right at 89 with very little variation. His command on the pitch wasn't always precise and he is going to need to work on command within the zone, but that will come with time
•Changeup - this pitch was filthy pretty much all night. He had a 7-8 MPH split with the fastball and it was a swing and miss pitch all night long. His arm action was almost identical to the fastball and it just drops down at the end. Very impressed with this pitch
•Curve - he has 11-5 break on his curve but almost no control over the pitch. Even in warmups he couldn't keep it out of the dirt. He had 3 WP on the night plus one passed ball and I would say all but one was on a curve. He got his first K on a lefty with the curve going away and he hung one later that got hammered to CF but was caught. As he went farther into the game he abandoned the curve for the change and had more success.

I came away pretty impressed with Perez tonight. If he fills out more and adds a little more velocity he is going to be pretty special. His command needs a bit more work as well. He is getting Ks and not walking a ton but more experienced batters are going to work him into deeper counts.

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect A.J. Pollock missed all of 2010 with a fractured growth plate in his right elbow, but he's making up for lost time with a hot start for Double-A Mobile, hitting .311/.353/.426 in his first 29 games. He's stolen seven bases in 10 attempts, and is showing no ill effects from the missed development time. A first-rounder out of Notre Dame in 2009, Pollock has slightly above average tools across the board, though some scouts have seen him as a tweener. He runs well enough to play center field right now, though if he loses speed as he ages that won't be true, and his bat won't play quite as well at a corner. For now, Arizona should be happy with his progress from the injury.

Week 5 Little Hero of the Week

For the 3rd time this season Anthony Rizzo has been named Little Hero of the week.

Two of the three players to rank ahead of Triple-A Tucson's Anthony Rizzo (Padres) in the Pacific Coast League batting race also play first base—and both the Royals' Eric Hosmer and the Blue Jays' David Cooper have been called to the big leagues in the past week. The 21-year-old Rizzo continues doing his part to get that same call. He batted 10-for-31 (.323) this week with two homers, three doubles, a triple (.677 slugging) and 13 RBIs. His eagerness to please also was apparent with nine strikeouts and zero walks. Regardless, Rizzo leads the PCL (or shares the lead) in six categories: home runs (nine), RBIs (41), hits (44), slugging (.741), extra-base hits (20) and total bases (83) . . .

Week 4 Hero of the Week

The Hero's get there first win of the season beating Jake 11-5, so many players could have been up for the award but it goes to SS Elvis Andrus Tex. Andrus lead the Hero's in hits (10), runs (7) and steals (4) for the week.

Final line looked 10/30 .333 7R 2RBI 4steals 2BB.

Week 4 Little Hero of the Week

Little Hero of the week will no firday to thursday to line up with the hot sheets on BA website.

With that being said here is weeks 4 Hero of the week... OF Oswaldo Arcia!

Team: low Class A Beloit (Midwest)
Age: 19
Why He's Here: .429/.500/.952 (9-for-21), 3 HR, 2 2B, 5 RBIs, 7 R, 3 BB, 3 SO, 1-for-1 SB
The Scoop: The reigning top position-player prospect from the Appalachian League, Arcia's potent bat has helped him overcome a lack of defensive value in the early going. The Twins debated holding Arcia back in extended spring training because of elbow and shoulder ailments, but they ultimately decided to send him to Beloit to DH and make his full-season debut. The buzz of Twins' minor league camp, he has met those lofty expectations even even with one hand pinned behind his back. Arcia leads the Midwest League with his .694 slugging percentage, and he came on strong last week after taking an 0-for-5 (with two walks) in an April 23 doubleheader. He collected a hit in the next four contests, going 9-for-16 with five extra-base hits.
